The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Swimming and Diving State Championships have been underway at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center since February 2, where the best swimmers and divers in the state are competing for gold medals and podium spots. Class 1–3A and 4A wrapped up competition yesterday, and today the spotlight shifts to Class 5A and 6A as they take the blocks. This is the final stage of the season with no second chances, no room for error.

And when the lights were brightest, these two Savannah-area prep swimmers below were above the crowd.

Prep Sports Report: Above the Crowd

Victor Cintron Rosario | HV Jenkins High School | Senior | Swimming

Rosario won the GHSA Class 1–3A state championship in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.84. He also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly in 49.20. He delivered two big swims when it mattered most at the state meet.

Alexandra Mackowiak | Savannah Arts Academy | Sophomore | Swimming

Mackowiak placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at the GHSA Class 1–3A state championships with a time of 1:03.97. She also finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.63). She stepped up in both events and earned her spot on the podium.

State meets are about preparation, focus, and rising to the moment. This weekend, these two Savannah prep swimmers did exactly that.
