Big-time swimmers rise to the moment. Jossy Thompson did it again.
The St. Andrew’s junior delivered another championship performance Monday, Feb. 9, at the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) State Swim Meet, winning two gold medals and earning one silver.
Thompson took first in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best 24.25. She followed that with another gold in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 58.68.
She also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.04, giving her three podium finishes on the biggest stage.
Two golds. One silver. Mission accomplished.
And this is not new territory for Thompson.
Over her career, she has won at least nine state-meet medals for St. Andrew’s in GIAA championship meets, including at least seven gold medals and two silvers. That total continues to grow with each season.
As a freshman in 2024, Thompson captured three gold medals — winning the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 butterfly at the state meet.
As a sophomore in 2025, she earned one gold medal in the 100 breaststroke and added two silver medals in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Now, as a junior, she is still leading from the front.
Consistent. Focused. Clutch.
That is what championship swimmers look like.
