Get Ready, Savannah! Local Teams Kick Off GHSA, GIAA, and SCISA Sports Tomorrow!

It's time to play high school ball! The Georgia High School Association (GHSA), Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA), and South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA)  kick off the 2024-25 sports season tomorrow, July 29, with the first practice dates for several sports. Football, cheerleading, softball, volleyball, cross country, and riflery teams will hit the field for their initial practices. Key dates include:

GHSA

  • Football: First practice on July 29; first contest on August 16.
  • Cheerleading: First practice on July 29; first contest on August 10.
  • Softball (FP): First practice on July 29; first contest on August 1.
  • Volleyball: First practice on July 29; first contest on August 5.
  • Cross Country: First practice on July 29; first contest on August 12.
  • Riflery: First practice on July 29; first contest on October 21.

GIAA

  • Football: First practice on July 29; first contest on August 16.
  • Volleyball: First match on July 29

SCISA

  • The first Practice Date for Fall Sports started on July 25
    • Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Swimming, Volleyball, 

 

With practices beginning tomorrow, student-athletes across Georgia are gearing up for an exciting new season.
