In front of an energetic crowd at the Jenkins Athletic Club on November 5, a new rivalry was born in Savannah as The Habersham School defeated the Savannah Jaguars, 71-47, in the first meeting between the boys' teams. \
Jaguars' head coach Todd O’Neal was the first varsity boys coach at the Habersham School more than 10 years ago, which added extra juice to the game.
In the end, Habersham's group Luke Wilson, Tyler Shippy, Danial Phillips had Andrew Bland were too much for the Jaguars. Wilson finished with 18 points, Shippy contributed 10 points, Phillips notched 15 points and Bland chipped in another 10 points.
The game was tied at 12 after one quarter, and Habersham held a three point lead at halftime. But the Patriots pulled away in the third quarter behind long distance shooting and led by 11 points to start the fourth quarter.
The game got away from the Jaguars in the final quarter, particularly during a stretch when the committed seven consecutive turnovers. The Patriots capitazlied on the miscues to stretch the final margin of victory.
For the Jaguars, Matt Tucker led the way with 15 points and 7 rebounds, connecting on three 3-pointers. Kegan Gowan added 10 points and Zaire Harrison contributed 9 points.
