Week of April 6, 2026
Six shutout innings in a must-win game. A leadoff bat that stayed hot all week.
That’s how you win a series.
Sometimes it’s about being there when your team needs you most. Sometimes it’s about setting the tone at the top of the lineup. This week, we saw both.
One arm stepped in and took control. One bat got things started and never slowed down.
Two top performances emerged in a region showdown for first place: Mason O’Neil of Benedictine earns Pitcher of the Week honors, and Omari Burse of Benedictine is named Player of the Week after leading the Cadets in a key region series win over Ware County.
Pitcher of the Week – Mason O’Neil
Benedictine | Senior
When the ball is handed to you in a big game, you have to compete. That’s exactly what Mason O’Neil did.
O’Neil came out of the bullpen on Friday April 10th, in Game 3, against Ware County and delivered six innings, allowing just three hits and no runs with three strikeouts in a 6-1 Cadet series clinching win.
He attacked the zone, worked ahead, and took control in a must-win spot.
Benedictine head coach Jason Pascual said O’Neil stepped up when it mattered most.
“Mason came through when his teammates needed him the most.”
That’s what you want—come in, take the ball, and finish the job.
Player of the Week – Omari Burse
Benedictine | Junior
At the top of the lineup, Omari Burse set the tone and never let up.
Burse went 6-for-11 with a home run and four RBIs during for the week of April 6th, helping spark the offense all week in the three game series against Ware County.
He got on base, put pressure on, and kept things moving.
Head coach Jason Pascual said Burse made an impact right away.
“Omari did a great job in the leadoff spot. He had a great week at the plate and got our offense off and running in Game 3.”
That’s the goal at the top—set the tone and let the lineup go to work.
