Hannah Cail, a senior guard and four-year starter at Calvary Day School, put her name in the history books when she stole the ball from St. Vincent on a breakaway. On the fast break, Cail laid the ball up off the glass and became the Lady Calvaries' all-time leading scorer. Calvary Day won the game 54-32, and Cail scored 30 points. Hannah sits on top of the Calvary Day School Lady Cavaliers 1000th point club with 1862. The season is not over Cail, as the final game of the regular season is Tuesday versus Savannah Country Day and then region and state playoffs. The question is whether the Cavalier's all-time girl's leading scorer, Hannah Cail, can start her own club at Calvary. That would be the 2000th-point club.

St. Andrew's sinks history with final regular season win

(Special to the PrepSports Report/St. Andrews Athletic Department sports info)

St. Andrew's welcomed Westminster Schools of Augusta to their gym on February 4, 2023, to finish off the regular season today. After an unusually slow start to the game, the Lions led the visiting Wildcats by a score of 26-15 at halftime. However, St. Andrew's kicked it into gear in the second half and more than doubled their opponent's score in the third quarter. They continued to an onslaught by outscoring them 21-4 in the final quarter to bring the final score to 69-28.

Zayden Edwards led all scorers for the second straight game by dropping 18 points for the Lions, who finished the regular season with a record of 23-1. Jaylen Sheppard, was the only player in double digits for either team, scored 10 points for the winning team.

After setting a new school record for away victories last night, St. Andrew's tied the school record for the best home record during a season tonight. The win over Westminster brings St. Andrew's home record to 10-0 for the season, which ties the record set by the 1998-99 team, who also went 10-0 at home. Considering both records together, this is the first team in school history to finish the regular undefeated in both home and away games. This year, the Lion's lone loss happened during a Jacksonville tournament in a neutral gym for both teams.

The victory over Westminster also set a new impressive record for the most consecutive regular-season region victories. With the win, St. Andrew's has now gone three full seasons without losing a region game. To put that into perspective, the last time the Lions lost a region game was in February of 2020, before the Covid pandemic began. Since then, the Lions are 21-0 in region games.

St. Andrew's now sets its sights on winning back-to-back region championships for the first time since 2004. The Lions will look to accomplish this feat in two weeks with the GIAA region tournaments begin.
