Veronica Sierzant continues to be the most versatile female in Savannah Chatham County prep sports.
Sierzant is the recipient of the 30th Hollis Stacy Award for the second year in a row. The Islands High School junior became only the fifth local female athlete to win the award back to back. Last year, Sierzant was the first sophomore and first from Islands High School to earn the accolade.
Sierzant excels at volleyball, basketball, soccer, and track & field; her accomplishments are for the 2021-2022 school year.
In the fall on the volleyball court, she was one of the reasons the team won the region title and advanced to the GHSA Class 4A Elite Eight with 403 kills and 44 aces.
On the hardwood in the winter, Sierzant averaged 22 points, 18 rebounds, and four blocks per game on the basketball court. She had one triple-double and 22 double-doubles in 23 games during the 2021-22 season and scored her 1000th career point.
During the spring, Veronica does double duty. Sierzant is the starting defensive back for the soccer team that made the Sweet 16. She laced up her track shoes and qualified for the GHSA state track sectionals in two events, the 4x800 meter relay and the triple jump.
The Hollis Stacy Award is awarded annually to Savannah's most versatile high school student-athlete, as determined by athletic directors and journalists.
Hollis Stacy, a Savannah native and World Golf Hall of Fame member, is who the award is named after. Gary Moses was responsible for the prize coming to fruition in 1992. Gary passed away last year, and his daughter, Leslie Moses, now is caring on the tradition of the award.
Leslie will present the Hollis Stacy Award trophy to Veronica on Monday at 1:30 pm at Islands High School in the Shark Tank (Gym Lobby). Below is a list of the previous recipients.
