Savannah, GA - New Hampstead junior center linebacker Gianna Brown has been named the Grassi Roofing/Prep Sports Report Flag Football Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2023 season.
Brown helped her team go 4-0 in Week 2, dominating offensively with seven total touchdowns, including one interception return for a touchdown. She also had 107 yards receiving, 11 flag pulls, two interceptions, and converted three 2-point conversions.
"Gianna is the ultimate competitor," said New Hampstead head coach Trey Lanier. "She is an intense athlete who is not only gifted physically, but also a very intelligent player as well. Brown has a high sports IQ that really gives her a clear understanding in reaching objectives and is able to guide herself into highly opportunistic situations."
Brown is a crucial player for the New Hampstead High School flag football team. During the season, the Phoenix are undefeated, 11-0 overall and 4-0 in GHSA Division 1 Area 2 region, and her performance in Week 2 was instrumental in the team's success. She is a deserving winner of the Prep Sports Report Grassi Flag Football Player of the Week award.
