Oliver wins in Augusta on Southeastern Junior Golf Tour

Savannah Christian rising sophomore Elliott Oliver, 15, endured intense heat and a difficult golf course to win the Boys 14-15 age group at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour's West Lake Junior Classic played at the West Lake Country Club in Augusta, Ga., June 25-26.

Oliver carded scores of 77-73 to finish 4-over par and win the age group by two strokes over Lee Smith from Marietta, Ga. Benedictine rising sophomore Hamp Threlkeld finished T5 after scores of 78-78 on the par 73 layout.

After playing the first nine holes in 1-over par 37, Oliver carded birdies on Nos. 10 and 11 and another birdie on No. 15 to put the tournament out of reach. It was Oliver's first win in eight tournaments on the SJGT in 2023, and the victory came after a strong showing at the Georgia State Golf Association Georgia Junior Amateur Championship the previous week in Columbus, Ga., where Oliver finished T38.

In Augusta, Richmond Hill's Hayden Price finished runner up in the Girls 15-19 age group after scores of 85-82. in the Boys 15-19 age group, Savannah's Andrew Messalle earned a top 10 finish with scores of 72-81.
