Two teams, zero losses, one final round, and a chance to finish something special.
Richmond Hill Middle School’s boys and girls golf teams enter Tuesday’s middle school golf league championship undefeated, but the story starts with a girls group that has set the tone all season and now looks to close it out on its home course at Richmond Hill Golf Club.
The Wildcats have rolled through a strong schedule, beating SE Bulloch, South Effingham, Effingham, Ebenezer, Wayne County, and Lewis Frazier, and they have done it with consistency, depth, and a team-first mindset.
For first-year girls head coach Melissa Bragg, the difference has been what her players do when no one is watching.
“Many of our girls are competing in matches on the weekends and throughout the year,” Bragg said. “They’re very self-driven and highly motivated.”
That mindset has carried through the entire lineup, according to Coach Bragg, led by Shayna Patel, Georgia McDonald, and Victoria Grant, with key contributions from Grace Anne Brookshire, Ayda Mills, Jaime Miller, Anna Adams, and Eden Parades.

“Their great attitude, their dedication, and all of the hard work they’re putting in on their own time, that’s what makes them so consistent,” Bragg said.
It is not just about scores; it is about how they play together.
“Some have been playing since they were 5 or 6 years old, some are just starting,” Bragg stated. “It’s really nice to see them work together and truly be a team.”
While the girls have led the way, the boys have matched them every step of the season.
Richmond Hill’s boys lineup includes Jase Crozier, Tripp West, Hudson Bope, Brayden Peterson, Baylen Kirkland, Brayden Vaughn, and Samuel Rhodes, a group that has delivered steady rounds and helped keep the Wildcats perfect heading into the championship. The boys are coached by Randell Boone.

Now that the final event is here, the focus turns to mindset.
“We just hope they have a positive attitude, enjoy the moment, and have a great time out there,” Bragg said.
And in golf, that approach can make all the difference.
“Golf can be very frustrating,” she said. “If you have a bad hole, you’ve got to rebound, brush off the negativity and keep rolling.”
Tuesday is the final test.
Undefeated, playing at home, and one round away from a perfect season.
For Richmond Hill Middle, both teams have put in the work.
Now it is about finishing what they started.
