Claxton, Georgia native Paul “Colt” Bragg announced he will attend the University of Alabama and accept an invitation to join the University of Alabama Clay Shooting Team in the Fall of 2021.

Colt is an accomplished clay shooter beginning his shooting career while a sophomore in high school. Within the first couple of years of shooting, Colt became a B Class shooter in Sporting Clays and an A Class shooter in Skeet. He was part of the 17 South Rod & Gun Club 2020 Georgia SCTP Super Sporting State Championship squad, the 2020 4th place Skeet squad at the SCTP Nationals in Ohio and the Pinewood Christian Academy GISA

State Championship Runner-Up Team 2019. Colt also was on the 2020 GISA AAA State Championship Team finishing 4thoverall in the state with Pinewood Christian Academy and was also selected to be on the 2020 GISA AAA All State Team. Colt does more than practice and compete in the shooting sports. He is an Honor Roll student and Beta Club student as well.

According to Colt: “I chose The University of Alabama because it feels like a different world. I have visited other campuses on recruiting visits but none compared to what the University of Alabama has to offer. The
educational value that is provided is unmatched and I am looking forward to that part of my journey as well. I first learned about the UA Clay Shooting Team at the Junior US Open and I was invited to the recruiting weekend. After that visit I had my heart set on being a part of this University and this program. From the coaches, to the facilities and the Team all made me feel at home. I’m looking forward to joining this shooting family. It was an easy decision, and I am excited to spend the next four years of my life at the University of Alabama!”

The University of Alabama has over 39,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and post graduate studies, and the 2019 enrollment is comprised of students from all over the world with 58% of the students now being from states and countries outside of Alabama.

The University of Alabama Clay Shooting Team is one of the top Collegiate Shooting Teams in the country. The UA Clay Shooting Team has boasted as many as two NRA All Americans in a single year. The Team has also been recognized as having the highest GPA of any team competing in the National Championship. Head Coach Charles Howard states, “With the addition of Colt to the 2021 incoming freshman class, our sights are narrowly focused on a National Championship in 2022.”
