Savannah Country Day Clay Sports team Secure Their Second State Title!

Savannah Country Day School is thrilled to announce that its Varsity team has won the Georgia Independent Athletic Association (GIAA) Clay Sports State Championship, marking SCDS's second State Championship title in three years! This year's competition included over 600 athletes from 49 teams across the state, and the Hornets not only claimed 1st place in the GIAA General division but also ranked 1st overall among all 49 teams. Go Hornets!

Congratulations to the top five Horents whose outstanding performances contributed to SCDS's winning score of 1,383 out of 1,500, finishing 17 clays ahead of both the 2nd and 3rd place teams:

Chase Buerger – 290/300
Miles Carson – 283/300
Jackson Ezelle – 272/300
Andrew Nicholson – 270/300
Dan Bradley – 268/300

Special recognition goes to Chase Buerger, who finished as HOA Runner-Up for the tournament, Miles Carson, who placed 5th overall, and Gracen Garceau, who earned Female HOA Runner-Up with a score of 258/300.

In the Skeet discipline, Buerger scored 99/100, placing 4th overall after a competitive shootoff, while Carson, Ezelle, and Bradley each scored 97/100, tying for 9th overall and rounding out the top 10. Among female competitors, Garceau shot 95/100, taking 3rd place overall after her winning shootoff.

In the Trap discipline, Carson excelled, taking 1st place with a 99/100, Buerger followed with a 98/100 for 5th place, and Bradley placed 9th with a 94/100. Garceau scored 90/100, securing 3rd place among female competitors.

The Sporting Clays Discipline presented technical challenges, but our Hornets shined. Buerger placed 2nd overall with a 93 100, Carson came in 5th with an 87 100, and Garceau took 4th among female competitors after her shoot-off with a score of 73 100.

Three SCDS athletes—Buerger, Carson, and Ezelle—earned a place on the Georgia All-State Team, an honor reserved for the top 10 athletes statewide. Congratulations to our team and to these individuals on this remarkable achievement!
