The Savannah Christian Preparatory School Middle School (7-0) softball team recently capped an undefeated season by coming from behind and defeating Blessed Sacrament 13-7 in the middle school softball championship game held at Savannah Christian on May 2, 2023.

The league comprised Blessed Sacrament, Calvary, and Savannah Christian because the Savannah Parachocial Atheltic League does not have a middle school softball league. SPCS head softball coach Victoria Ledford was proud of the team's growth throughout the season and not giving up when the Raiders fell behind  7-4 in the second inning to win the Championship game.

"We won big in the first game of the season but didn't have many hits. We worked on hitting all season, and the girls improved, and we were young. We have four 5th graders on the team," said Ledford. "Then, in the championship game, we had to come back and pecked away as the girls never gave up. Then we tacked on a few more runs in the last inning, they hung in there, and we pulled through."

There were 13 players on the team, and only three were eighth graders. Standing out in the Raider championship game was 5th grader Jaylen Miller who pitched four great innings, according to Coach Ledford. Also standing out were another 5th grader Dillon Eckhart and an 8th grader Reese Jenkins.

"Both had big hits during the championship game and played well defensively. Dillon had several nice plays at 3rd base, and Reese had a great game catching and  picked off a runner at first base,"  said Ledford. "It was a team effort in the game and the whole season to win the championship."
