Savannah Christian has been one of the area’s elite football programs under head coach Baker Woodward and the Raiders will have an elite receiver duo to lean on in 2021.

George Futch is back for his senior season after leading the Raiders in receiving last year. Junior Ely Brown will be featured as a running back/athlete for SCPS (10-2 in 2020) as it looks toward the future after graduating experienced quarterback Spencer Robicheaux last year.

Futch led Woodward’s team last season with 47 catches, 797 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a sophomore, Brown (77 carries, 531 yards, eight touchdowns, 29 receptions, 549 yards, five touchdowns in 2020) was one of the best dual-threats in GHSA Class A Private.

The Raider offense averaged 34.3 points per game in 2020, outscoring opponents by 186 points across 12 contests. Futch played a big role in the other two departments, as well as on offense.

He tallied three interceptions and 26 tackles as a defensive back while displaying big-play ability with an interception return of 100+ yards on a pick-six and a 99-yard kick return for a touchdown. He has college scholarship offers from Savannah State, Lenoir-Rhyne and Chattanooga, among others.

Brown is also a standout on the diamond for the Raider baseball team.
