Saxton win's SJGT event in Statesboro

Guyton's Madi Saxon, a rising high school senior who has committed to play collegiate golf at the Savannah College of Art & Design, won the Girls 15-19 age group at the SJGT Forest Heights Junior Classic played July 16-17 at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

Saxton posted scores of 74-71 to finish 1-over par for 36 holes and three strokes clear of Richmond Hill's Hayden Price, who finished with scores of 76-72 to claim runner up in the tournament. Saxton also won the SJGT Savannah Golf Club Junior Classic in June at the Savannah Golf Club, and she is currently ranked first overall in the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour season points standings for Girls 15-19.

In the Boys 16-19 age group, Richmond Hill's Ledger Conley posted scores of 75-72 to finish as runner up, two strokes behind winner Grant Odom from Statesboro, Ga.

 

And in Boys 12-13, Savannah's Carson Hayes finsihed with scores of 78-78 to finish runner up behind McKnight Beman of Augusta, Ga.
