Benedictine junior Whit Watson made a birdie on the first hole of a sudden death playoff on August 14 to qualify to compete in the American Junior Golf Association's AJGA Junior at Carolina Trace being played August 15-17 at Carolina Trace Country Club in Sanford, N.C.
Watson carded a 3-over par 75 on the Carolina Trace Lake Course, including a birdie on his last hole to get into a playoff to earn a spot in the tournament field.
The AJGA is widely considered the highest level of competitive junior golf and entry into tournament fields can only be earned through points or performance at one-day qualifiers. The AJGA is supported by organizations as TaylorMade Golf, Adidas Golf, Rolex, the PGA TOUR and United States Golf Association , and the AJGA has offered tournaments for elite junior golfers of both sexes in the since 1978.
