He was a standout high school champion wrestler at Effingham County High School. Isiah Royal would pin down three Georgia State High Association state wrestling titles for the Rebels before he graduated. Now add a fourth—this title now in college.

Royal, who is in his senior year at Newberry College, defeated St. Cloud State's Joy Banchini 5-4 in the NCAA Division II National Championship match Saturday night.

Royal's win is only the fourth Wolves wrestler to be a national champion. Isiah's title was in the 141-pound weight class.
