Where are They Now? Playing CPL Summer Ball

Former standout Effingham County High School baseball player Dusty Baker, Class of 2016, is still going strong in the Coastal Plain League. Baker was a 2019 CPL All-star for the CPL Champions, the Morehead City Marlins. This past week Dusty earned the CPL player of the week. Baker now playing for the for the Wilson Tobs had a hot bat against the Peninsula Pilots in a three-game series from July 2 to July 5, 2020.

Baker, an outfielder, finished with a .778 batting average with seven hits in nine at-bats versus the Pilots. Even more impressive, Dusty had two doubles, one triple, five RBIs and a 1.222 slugging percentage. Baker besides 7 hits, walked three times, which gave him an on-base percentage of .833 and scored six times. Just a note, the next night on July 7 against the Wake Forest Fungo. Dusty went 2 for 2, hit another double, knocked in two more runs, and scored two more times.  Baker on the season has a batting average of.650.

Dusty is a senior at Mount Olive College. On the 2020 season for the Trojans, Baker was impressive in the shortened college spring season. At the plate Dusty batted .281, scoring 24 runs in 23 games, adding five extra base hits, two doubles, one triple, two homeruns and stealing six bases in six attempts.  The Wilson Tobs are in Wilson, North Carolina.
