Barber wins prestigious Spring Bell Invitational

Savannah Country Day freshman Kate Barber, one of the best junior golfers in the country, added to her trophy case with a win at the prestigious Spring Bell Invitational played at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va., March 26-27.

The Invitational brings together the top players on the East Coast and is considered one of the top 50 junior golf events for girls in the country each year. Barber posted rounds of 75-71 to finish 36 holes at 2-over par and two strokes clear of runner-up Grace Lu from Edison, N.J.

Of the 54 players in the field at the Spring Bell Invitational, eight have already committed to play college golf. The tournament featured one of the highest-ranked fields ever, with 88% of the field ranking inside the top 1,200 on Junior Golf Scoreboard and 18 members of the field ranked inside the top 550.
