At St. Andrew’s, Lions Golf's growth has been built on consistency. Daily work. A clear standard. Over time, that approach has started to take shape across the program.

The Lane family has been central to that progress.

For Chris Lane, golf has always been more than a sport. He discovered the game at a young age and eventually earned the opportunity to come to the United States on a golf scholarship. That experience shaped how he views the game and why he chose to pass it on.

“Golf has given me so many opportunities,” Lane said. “I wanted to pass on my passion and appreciation for the game onto my kids from a young age.”

That approach defined how Morris and Savannah were introduced to golf.

Both grew up around the game, learning through early programs like The First Tee and Girls Golf while spending time on the course as a family. Over time, exposure turned into commitment.

“I always remembered my dad playing,” Morris said. “I picked it up with The First Tee, which helped me learn the game along with my father.”

Savannah’s experience followed a similar path, starting with fun and gradually becoming something more serious.

“When I was little, my dad taught me golf and tried to make it fun for me,” Savannah said. “Over the years, I realized that I wanted golf to be a big part of my future.”

That foundation now shows up in the program.

Morris has played a key role in helping move Lions Golf forward, including being part of restarting the program after a period of inactivity. His experience and approach have helped establish expectations within the team.

Savannah has added to that impact.

As a freshman, she has taken on a meaningful role within the girls' team, contributing to its competitiveness and daily standards.

Competing together has strengthened both of them.

“Seeing her grow as a golfer has really made me proud of her and motivated me to get better,” Morris said.

For Savannah, the benefit is just as clear.

“It’s nice to play with someone like my brother because most girls my age don’t play competitively, and he gives me good advice when needed,” she said.

That connection extends into the team environment.

As an assistant coach, Chris Lane reinforces the same expectations daily. Structure. Repetition. Accountability. With Morris and Savannah in the program, that standard is not just coached. It is visible.

“It’s been really easy,” Lane said. “Both of the kids have been helping out.”

The program continues to build.

There is growing interest from younger students, and the foundation is forming through consistent work and shared expectations.

“I am really excited that there is interest from the middle school,” Morris said. “So the St. Andrew’s golf program can build.”

Lions Golf is still developing, but the direction is clear.

And much of that progress reflects the steady, consistent impact of the Lane family.
