Savannah Christian Announces Boy's Head Basketball Coach

Savannah Christian Preparatory School is pleased to announce the hire of Mr. Zach Darling as the new Head Coach and Program Director for boys' basketball. Mr. Darling brings thirteen years of coaching experience to SCPS and most recently served at Westminster in Atlanta, Georgia.

He played college basketball for one year at Covenant College and three years at Berry College, where he received a BA in History. Darling has been a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches since 2016, holds a Level 3 certification from USA Basketball and Atlanta Hawks Coaches Academy, and attends Championship Basketball Clinics and Point Guard College camps yearly.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. “I want to welcome Mr. Darling to Raider Athletics and look forward to the future of Raider basketball under his leadership. He brings a great deal of experience and understands the caliber of play in AAA which will be invaluable as we move into that classification” said Julie Jones, SCPS Athletic Director.

The "Coach" Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine "The Prep Sports Report" in 2000. In 2010, the "Coach" started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. He's still going strong, broadcasting on Facebook live and Twitter live every Saturday morning. You gotta love it!
