The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 1A Area 3 volleyball standings in recent years have been dominated by four perennial contenders — Savannah Christian, St. Vincent’s, Savannah Country Day, and Calvary Day, with Savannah Christian holding the most consistent grip on the top spot.
Calvary Day School opted to stay in GHSA Region 3-3A last year and won the region. The other three programs faced off as usual, and here are the results over the last five seasons for these three teams. Who will claim the regional title this year?
Savannah Christian has been the top program, winning the region title in four of the last five seasons (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024) and never finishing lower than second. The Raiders' 2024 season was very impressive, as they went 12-0 in region play and finished 31-10 overall, marking back-to-back perfect region records.
St. Vincent’s remains the most consistent challenger, securing the 2022 region crown and regularly posting strong win percentages. The Saints' 2024 record of 33-6 overall and 8-2 in region play was one of the program’s best in recent years, powered by a senior-heavy roster.
Savannah Country Day has been a steady top-three finisher, including a 9-3 region mark in 2024. While the Hornets' overall records have varied, they’ve maintained a competitive edge in region play, finishing no lower than third since 2022.
In short, the past half-decade has been defined by Savannah Christian’s sustained dominance, St. Vincent’s steady excellence, and Savannah Country Day’s consistent top-tier finishes, and ability to disrupt the top two teams when they’re clicking.

Coach: Kyla King
Region: GHSA 1A-3A
Experience: 1st season at SCDS
Record (2024): 15-20
Heading into the 2025 season, the Savannah Country Day volleyball team boasts several strengths, including a strong core of returning players such as Olivia Aliotta, Addison Stubbs, and Vivienne Carter, whose leadership and all-around skills will be key assets.
Key Players: Olivia Aliotta (OH), Addison Stubbs (L), Vivienne Carter (Opp)
Coach King says, “Heading into the 2025 season, I’m genuinely excited about the potential of this group. We have a strong foundation of returning players who gained valuable experience last year, and they’re coming back hungry to push further. Our core leaders—on and off the court—have shown great maturity, and I expect them to set the tone in practices and matches from day one. What excites me most is the team’s chemistry and commitment; they’ve been working hard in the offseason, and there’s a clear sense of unity and focus among them. I believe we have the tools to compete at a high level in our region and beyond, but we’ll need to continue developing our depth and learning how to close out tight matches with confidence. If we stay healthy, grow together, and embrace the challenge of playing tough opponents, I fully expect us to take a step forward this year—not just to make the postseason, but to truly contend.”
