Savannah's Jack Weeks, a junior at Benedictine Military School, posted a score of 1-under par 71 to earn medalist honors at the qualifier for the American Junior Golf Association's Mizuno Junior Championship at Sea Island played June 23 at the Sea Island Resort Retreat Club.
Weeks, who medaled at the qualifier for the AJGA Vaughn Taylor Championship in Evans, Ga., a week ago, will play his second AJGA event in two weeks after finishing T34 at the Vaughn Taylor Championship played at Bartram Trail Golf Club. During the qualifier at Sea Island, he carded 5 birdies and 4 bogeys en route to posting the only under-par score in the Boys qualifier.
Savannah's Braden Schnaible ended with a score of 2-over 74 to finish T6, Richmond Hill's Patrick Mahaffey signed for a score of 3-over 75 for a T9 finish and Savannah's Hamp Threlkeld was T12 after a score of 4-over 76. Schnaible qualfiied for entry into the field but will not play in the tournament.
