Three Raiders have been shooting the lights out on the hardwood or at sport clay targets. Three Savannah Christian athletes, Faith Bullied, Peyton Cromwell, and Conner Daniel, earned this prestigious over the past three weeks. Here is why these athletes have earned this honor.
Faith Bullied Raider Girl's Basketball
Athlete of the Week December 5th - December 11th
Faith Bullied is this Week's SCPS Athlete of the Week! Faith averaged 21 points per game last week and helped lead the Raiders to a win over Metter. Faith has been playing basketball since the 6th grade and says her favorite memory is scoring 30 points in a game. Faith says her goal for this season is to make it to the state playoffs and says her favorite thing about being a Raider is the bonds that she has made with her teammates. When asked what it means to be named Athlete of the Week, Faith said, "I feel honored. I wouldn't be able to do it without my teammates and coaches."
Peyton Cromwell Radier Boy's Basketball
Athlete of the Week November 28th - December 4th
Peyton Cromwell was the SCPS Athlete of the Week for the week November 28th - December 4th! During that Week, Peyton helped lead the boys' basketball team to two non-region victories, finishing the week with a 45% field goal percentage while averaging 15 points per game and eight rebounds per game. Peyton has been playing basketball for 15 years and says his favorite memory was beating Country Day last season. Peyton says his goal for this season is to help the team win a region championship and says his favorite thing about being a Raider is the friends he makes playing the sports he loves. When asked what it means to be named Athlete of the Week, Peyton said, "It means a lot to be named Athlete of the Week, and I am very grateful for the recognition."
Conner Daniel - Raider Sporting Clays Team
Athlete of the Week November 14th - November 20th
Connor Daniel is this week’s SCPS Athlete of the Week! Connor shot a 288/300 and also finished as the Sporting Clays Champion (Open Division) and HOA Runner Up (Open Division) at the GISA State Championship this weekend. Connor has been a part of clay shooting for about a year and a half and says his favorite memory is being able to practice and compete with his team and getting to watch team members work harder to become better. Connor says his goal for this season was to place in the top three in his division at the state shoot and be the lead shooter for the school which he accomplished this season and says his favorite thing about being a Raider is getting to support the school on and off the field and represent what it means to be a true Raider. When asked what it means to be named Athlete of the Week, Connor said, “Being named SCPS Athlete of the Week is obviously a big deal to me and I am honored to even be considered. After trying other sports and not excelling, I finally found the sport for me and I hope this will encourage others. I've worked very hard to get to where I am today. I hope to become a leader for all athletes while representing SCPS. I am looking forward to doing my part and helping my teammates so that we can continue to improve and bring home more wins. Thank you SCPS for allowing shooting sports! It has changed my life for the better.”
