Woodville-Tompkins Lady Wolverines basketball players claw scholarships

Throughout their Lady Wolverines high school careers, Janiyah Heyward and Sanai Chisholm played a significant role in the success of the Woodville-Tompkins girls' basketball program. Woodville Tompkins recently announced that they will be playing collegiate basketball at an institution in the Savannah area.

Heyward has committed to play for USC-Beaufort, while Chisholm will play for Savannah State. Both players recived honors to the Sandy Spiel 2022-23 GHSA Girls Basketball All-State team for Class A D1. Heyward was named to the second team and Chisholm was honorable mention. 

Locally both players were named to the Savannah Morning News Greater Savannah Girl's Basketball First Team. Another career milestone for the girls is that they both entered the steadily expanding 1,000-point club at Woodville-Tompkins.

In GHSA 1 D1 Region 3, Heyward received recognition as the top offensive player in the region. She averaged 10.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks while scoring 15.0 points per game. For the season, Chisholm averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.9 steals.
