Late in the season, the margin gets small, and the players who step up stand out. This week, it showed.
One arm delivered a complete-game statement. Two bats stayed hot and drove their teams forward.
Three standout performances close out the regular season: Calvary Day’s Noah Bauer is the Pitcher of the Week, while Savannah Jaguars’ J.W. Castongia and St. Andrew’s Jack Kelley share Player of the Week honors.
Pitcher of the Week — Noah Bauer
Calvary Day | Senior
When the ball is in your hand, you compete. That’s exactly what Noah Bauer did.
Bauer threw a complete game against Liberty County, going seven innings on
just 79 pitches. He allowed only two hits and one run, walked none, and struck out six while throwing 75% strikes.
He worked fast, filled up the zone, and never let the game get away.
Calvary Day head coach Jakob Gross said Bauer has been that guy all season.
“Noah has been a dominant arm for us all year. He’s been our Game 1 guy and will continue to play a huge role in the playoffs,” Gross said. “He’s shown grit and perseverance to get to this point.”
That’s what you want from your ace: take the ball, attack hitters, and finish the job.
Player of the Week — J.W. Castongia
Savannah Jaguars | Senior
At the plate, J.W. Castongia did a little bit of everything.
In four games, Castongia went 7-for-14 with two doubles, two triples, six runs scored, five RBIs, and six stolen bases.
And when the spotlight was on, he delivered.
Castongia capped the week with a 5-for-5 performance on Senior Night, showing his ability to impact the game in every way.
Savannah Jaguars baseball coordinator Jason Rockwell said Castongia’s leadership has been just as important.
“J.W. did it all at the plate and has been a strong leader for us all season,” Rockwell said. “He showed what Penn State Beaver is getting.”
That’s the goal at the top — get on, create pressure, and change the game.
Player of the Week — Jack Kelley
St. Andrew’s | Junior (2027)
Jack Kelley didn’t just have a good week — he produced at a high level every time he stepped in.
Kelley slashed .500 with a .706 on-base percentage and a 2.306 OPS. He added three home runs, a triple, five RBIs, seven runs scored, six walks, and two stolen bases.
He impacted the game at the plate, on the bases, and behind it.
St. Andrew’s head coach Stephen Vaughn said Kelley’s leadership stands out.
“Jack is a natural leader who keeps getting better. He raises the standard for our program,” Vaughn said.
That’s what you want from your catcher — lead, produce, and make everyone around you better.
